After the Summit of the Future: New Momentum for Arms Control & Disarmament?

This United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) Vienna Conversation Series event examines key dynamics emanating from the Summit of the Future process and newly-agreed Pact for the Future, their possible implications for disarmament and arms control processes and the role of different stakeholders in advancing disarmament-related actions. As the UN Secretary-General put it, “We’ve now unlocked the door, it is our common responsibility to walk through it – this requires not just agreement but action.”

Past event: Global Launch of the UNODA Disarmament Education Strategy

The virtual launch event addressed the role of disarmament education in advancing disarmament efforts and in contributing to other UN global agendas, as well as the centrality of partnerships in achieving such goals. It featured opening remarks by the High Representative for Disarmament Affairs and a panel discussion with distinguished experts and representatives of key stakeholder groups, including government, the media, academia and former participants of UNODA’s flagship educational and youth initiatives.
